چکیده
The term 'craniofrontonasal dysplasia' (CFND) was introduced by Cohen' in 1979 when describing a 14 year old girl with coronal craniosynostosis, hypertelorism, limitation of shoulder movement, and digital abnormalities. The child's mother was also affected. In the same volume of Birth Defects, Slover and Sujansky2 reported similar findings in three female sibs, both of whose parents had hypertelorism, as did the paternal grandmother. These papers established CFND as a distinct entity. Subsequent reports have expanded the phenotype to include numerous trunk and limb abnormalities.-36 This condition is probably not

A novel EFNB1 mutation in a patient with craniofrontonasal syndrome and right hallux duplication.
Craniofrontonasal syndrome (CFNS, MIM #304110) is a rare X-linked dominant developmental disorder that shows paradoxically greater severity in affected females than in affected males. Our female patient with frontonasal dysplasia, craniosynostosis and additional malformations was consistent with CFNS. EFNB1, which encodes a member of the ephrin family of transmembrane ligands for Eph receptor t...
متن کاملA Novel De Novo EFNB1 Gene Mutation in a Mexican Patient with Craniofrontonasal Syndrome
Craniofrontonasal syndrome (CNFS) is an X-linked disorder caused by mutations in the EFNB1 gene in which, paradoxically, heterozygous females are more severely affected than hemizygous males. In this paper, the clinical and molecular studies of a female subject with CFNS are described. A novel de novo c.473T>C (p.M158T) mutation in exon 3 of EFNB1 was demonstrated in this patient. The M158 resi...
متن کاملIsolated Sagittal Synostosis in a Boy with Craniofrontonasal Dysplasia and a Novel EFNB1 Mutation
Craniofrontonasal syndrome (CFNS) is a rare X-linked disorder that shows greater severity in females and is largely attributed to mutations in EFNB1. A 7-year-old boy presented with hypertelorism, broad nasal root, midfacial hypoplasia, mandibular prognathia, ptosis, and scaphocephaly was clinically diagnosed with CFNS. Three-dimensional computed tomographic scans confirmed the isolated sagitta...
متن کاملIdentification and expression analysis of a novel intragenic EFNB1 mutation causing craniofrontonasal syndrome☆
Craniofrontonasal syndrome (CFNS) is an X-linked disorder caused by mutations in the EFNB1 gene and characterized by distinctive craniofacial and digital malformations. In contrast with most X-linked traits, female patients with CFNS display a more severe phenotype than males. In this report, the clinical, molecular and RNA expression analyses of a female subject with CFNS are described. A nove...
متن کاملEPHRIN-B1 Mosaicism Drives Cell Segregation in Craniofrontonasal Syndrome hiPSC-Derived Neuroepithelial Cells
Although human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs) hold great potential for the study of human diseases affecting disparate cell types, they have been underutilized in seeking mechanistic insights into the pathogenesis of congenital craniofacial disorders. Craniofrontonasal syndrome (CFNS) is a rare X-linked disorder caused by mutations in EFNB1 and characterized by craniofacial, skeletal, ...
